Food Industry has grown up significantly in recent past and still mushrooming with emergence
of restaurants and Food Business Operators (FBO’s) throughout India. Food Laws have been
regulated by a comprehensive science-based law i.e. Food Safety & Regulation Act 2006
(implemented in 2011) (FSSA), which ensures food safety, manufacture, sale and distribution
of food related products and prevent food adulteration in India. The Act has consolidated the
various laws and Rules relating to the Food Industry.
It has laid down separate regulations
pertaining to Packaging & Labelling of food products beside Legal Metrology Act 2011, it
provides regulatory & statutory requirements for packaging & labelling of food products.
We have vast experience in dealing with issues relating to PFA 1954 (erstwhile food regime), FSSA, and
Legal Metrology Act 2011, wherein we have dealt with substantive & procedural issues such as Food
Licenses & Registrations, Label Regulations, Food Recall, etc.
